Sam Bennett Could Land an Outrageous Contract This Summer According to Insider

NHL free agency is set to be a frenzy once again in 2025, and while all attention will be on Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner, there's some other very intriguing names available this off-season.

The likes of Nikolaj Ehlers, Aaron Ekblad and Brad Marchand are all free agents as well, but Sam Bennett may be the most intriguing player available beyond Marner, with the playoff riser set to get paid in a big way.

Given his performances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in recent years, he'll be a hot commodity, but according to E.J. Hradek, host of NHL Tonight, that could mean getting a deal upwards of $10 million per season, with at least one team willing to pay him that on his next deal.

If one team would do so, that could escalate things into a bidding war, and after putting up 21 goals and 42 points in 53 playoff games over the last three seasons with Florida, it's easy to see why a team would want the physical menace in their lineup for years to come.

In the regular season however, he has tallied more than 50 points just once in his career, doing so in 2024/25 in 76 games played, so if a team can accept that he won't be producing at a point-per-game level during the regular season and pay him purely for playoff production, he could get a huge deal.

At this point in time, all we know is that Bennett isn't likely to sign with a Canadian team, but if he wins the Stanley Cup again in 2025 and plays a huge role for the Panthers, it won't be a shock to see him landing a massive deal wherever he goes in free agency.
