Stanley Cup Champion Josh Mahura Took The Stanley Cup To A Very Special Place
Stanley Cup champion Josh Mahura got his day with the holy grail of hockey, parading the trophy around his hometown of St. Albert, Alberta.
Mahura took sometime out of his day to take the Stanley Cup to a very special space. He took the cup to the Humboldt Strong Memorial which honors the lives of four of the players Logan Hunter, Jaxon Joseph, Conner and Stephen Wack. A very touching thing for Mahura to do.
Mahura appeared in 30 regular season games with the Florida Panthers last season but didn't play a game during the franchise's run to it's first ever Stanley Cup.
The 26 year old, was originally not eligible to have his name be put on the cup. The rules state that each player must play in at least one Stanley Cup Final game or in 41 regular season games to have their name engraved. However, the Florida Panthers did petition to have Mahura's name engraved due to an injury exemption, which the NHL granted.
Mahura signed a one-year, $775k deal with the Seattle Kraken this summer. In 191 games he has scored 10 goals and 45 points.
