AHL team honours Adam Johnson following Sunday's game
Sunday was a tough day for the hockey community as everyone continues to mourn the passing of former NHLer Adam Johnson.
For those who are familiar with the story, Johnson passed away following a freak accident during an EIHL game in England on Saturday.
Tributes poured in from across the hockey world throughout Sunday including from Johnson's former teams, but the AHL's Ontario Reign honoured him following their game against Abbotsford.
After the Reign defeated the Abbotsford Canucks, Adam Johnson was named the first star of the night, with members of the team coming back onto the ice to place his jersey on a stool at center ice.
"The @ontarioreign honored Adam Johnson with the 1st star Sunday night.
Johnson spent parts of 2 seasons with the Reign."
Johnson appeared in 42 games with the Ontario Reign between the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons after returning to North America from Sweden.
Our thoughts continue to be with Adam Johnson's family and friends at this time.
