In what may very well be Marc-Andre Fleury's last season in the NHL, the goaltender is still going strong, putting on an excellent performance last night to give the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 overtime win over the Boston Bruins. His teammates definitely appreciate him, but will never miss an opportunity to poke some fun.
During the intermission, the Wild's Brandon Duhaime was asked about Fleury's performance so far in the game, and decided to take some friendly shots at his netminder.
"It's unbelievable. For him to do this at 50 is just special," said Duhaime with a smirk.
"He's awesome. Great teammate, great player, and you see what he's doing out there at 50."
For the record, Fleury is 39. Not old by non-NHL standards, but one of the oldest players in the league at this point. You wouldn't say it by looking at his stats last night. Fleury stopped 40 of 43 shots for a .930 save percentage.
