Fleury had a fantastic outing for the Wild on Tuesday night, which was his season debut, making 27 saves on 29 shots to earn the victory as Minnesota downed Montreal, 5-2.
After the game, it was announced that Marc-Andre Fleury was the first star of the night and the fans remaining at the Bell Centre gave him a loud ovation after he came back onto the ice to salute the crowd.
The Sorel native is one of the best goaltenders to come from Quebec, along with Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy, so those fans still at the Bell Centre after the game were able to show their love for the longtime NHLer for potentially the last time.
Fleury is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2024. It's unclear if Fleury will play beyond this season, but regardless, whenever he decides to hang up the skates, he'll be a first ballot inductee into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
