Marc-Andre Fleury doesn't take any crap and forces Evgeny Svechnikov to take awful penalty
Marc-Andre Fleury has already had a Hall of Fame career. The veteran netminder knows all the tricks of the trade and that includes when the push players buttons and when not to. Fleury put this ability on full display yesterday when the Wild faced off against the San Jose Sharks.
With the game tied at 1 late in the 2nd period the puck came to a stop behind the Wild net. Svechnikov skated to the front of the net and began to pressure Fleury. Fleury gave Svech a poke, before Marcus Foligno came to Fleury's defense. Svech however didn't take the message and circled back to give Fleury a slash.
After the slash the referee had seen enough and decided to call Svechnikov for the minor. The Wild would go onto score on the powerplay and they would never relinquish the lead.
After the game Svechnikov shared he felt both Fleury and Foligno deserved penalties, but his Head Coach didn't agree.
Hopefully for the younger Svechnikov this can be a learning lesson, because guys like Fleury always know how to get the calls.
