The Minnesota Wild were on the end of a bad call in their latest loss to New York, and GM Bill Guerin made that frustration as clear as possible after the game.
That 3-1 defeat didn't come without controversy however, as there was one call in particular that stands out, with
Bo Horvat clearly pushed Jake Middelton right into the boards face first from behind, with many expecting a five minute major.
The people expecting that included General Manager Bill Guerin, who was reportedly livid after the game according to Michael Russo, as he reportedly told beat writers not to ask a question about it, instead pointing them towards the official, who he called a very insulting name in the process.
It's not surprising however, with the NHL's officiating coming under immense scrutiny in recent times, with players, fans, coaches and clearly even those in the front office having no clue what the officials are going to call, with absolutely no consistency on the ice demanded by Commissioner Gary Bettman.
To make matters worse for Guerin and the entire Wild team, it has now been revealed that Horvat will face no further discipline for putting Middleton in serious danger of an injury, and instead he gets away with simply a minor penalty for a very dangerous act.
Ultimately, the consistency with the officiating in the NHL needs to be looked at, as there have been way too many missed calls on the ice and from Toronto this season, and if it doesn't get fixed, it's safe to say that the league could continue driving fans away as these calls are deciding the outcome of games.
