The Minnesota Wild just inked Dylan Ferguson to a one-year deal, but now they've officially waived the 26-year old goaltender as they look to get him re-assigned to the AHL's Iowa Wild.

After a red-hot start to the 2024/25 season in net, the Minnesota Wild have officially inked 26-year old Dylan Ferguson to a one-year, two-way deal for the remainder of the season.

However, the team want him back in the AHL with the Iowa Wild, and to do so they need to place him on waivers, which is exactly what they've done on Tuesday, placing him at risk of being claimed by a rival team that may need good goaltending depth.

Despite being just 26-years of age, Ferguson made his NHL debut way back in 2017/18 with the Vegas Golden Knights, as the former seventh-round draft pick made just one appearance for the team that season.

Fast forward to 2022/23 and he would again appear in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators where he would play in just two games with the team, before a trip to the KHL and eventually, a role with the ECHL's Iowa Heartlanders.

Now, after all of that, Ferguson has inked a deal with the Minnesota Wild after a solid seven games in the AHL this season, but to get him back down there, the team will be hoping that he can pass through waivers.

In those seven games, Ferguson has posted a 3.30 GAA and a .900 save percentage, which isn't exactly the type of numbers that will make a 26-year old a hot commodity on waivers, but if a goaltender-needy team out there is looking for a third or fourth goaltender on the organization's depth chart, don't be shocked if there's some interest in him.
