Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher's game is all about exuberance. When he is fully on and engaged he is a joy to watch on the ice. During last night's game against the New York Islanders, Gallagher took that exuberance a step too far.
The incident occurred during the third period when Islanders defenceman Adam Pelech was moving the puck up ice, Gallagher came flying towrds the defenseman, catching him with an elbow to the face.
After reviewing the hit you can clearly see, its a blindside hit, makes contact to the head and Gallagher leaves his feet. This checks all the boxes for a lengthy suspension. This appears to be another blunder in a growing list by the head of the NHL's Department of Player Safety George Parros.
