The Montreal Canadiens are going to be an interesting team to watch leading up to the trade deadline at 3 p.m. ET on Friday.

General Manager Kent Hughes has a couple of pieces that could be of interest to contending teams, with defenceman David Savard and goaltender Jake Allen being mentioned in rumours for weeks now.

But there's another name on the Canadiens' roster that is reportedly drawing interest, that being 29-year-old forward Josh Anderson, who has been struggling this season.

Moving Josh Anderson won't be easy however. The Burlington, Ontario native has three years remaining on his contract beyond the 2023-24 season with a cap hit of $5.5 million and a modified no-trade clause.

"Pagnotta mentioned Anderson is one of the players the Canadiens are still open to moving. However, with three more years left on his contract after this season at a $5.5 million salary cap hit, a deal ahead of the deadline may be unlikely."

Anderson has 17 points (eight goals, nine assists), 57 penalty minutes and is a minus-16 in 57 games this season with Montreal. If the Canadiens are to trade Anderson, whether it be before Friday's deadline or in the summer, they will certainly get a lot less than the reported first-round pick they were offered last season.
