The one-time Stanley Cup champion wasn't criticizing Laine's play on the ice but rather the outfit he decided to wear for his first time in the Canadiens locker room. Laine was wearing black and white spotted pants and lime green shoes.
Commodore didn't hold back on his tirade.
The league has certainly changed since Commodore hung up the skates during the 2011-2012 season. Players were a lot more conservative during his playing days, rarely showing off their individuality.
While Laine didn't dress up for his first appearance in a Habs jersey. He is definitely excited to play for the storied franchise.
Laine played his first preseason game with Montreal last night in the team's 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Laine was held off the scoresheet but did record five shots, two hits, while skating in 16:48 of ice time.
Montreal acquired Laine from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Aug. 19 in exchange for defenceman Jordan Harris and a second-round pick.
Do you think Commodore's comments were too harsh?
