Juraj Slafkovsky had two goals in Montreal's loss to Seattle, but according to the player, the officials made a major mistake on the second one.
The Montreal Canadiens picked up a key point in Wednesday's game against the Seattle Kraken, but with Bradon Montour quickly making NHL history in overtime, the team would come up short, keeping them one point back of the Blue Jackets in the Wild Card race.
However, things may not have gotten that far if it wasn't for a mistake from the officials according to Juraj Slafkovsky, who admitted to a major high stick on his second goal (14th of the season) that was crucial in sending this one to OT.
«I was 100% sure that was the highest stick I ever had.»
Upon seeing the replay, it's tough to see how the officials missed that one, as it's clear as day that he used a high stick to tip in a crucial goal that may keep the Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Playoff race in the East.
If it's not called however, it's not up to the players to bargain with the officials, and since they missed in, Montreal consider themselves lucky to get away with one, and after the game, Slaf was clearly very happy about it.
After a relatively slow start to the year, the former No. 1 overall pick is now heating up again, as his two-goal performance brought him up to six goals and 11 points in his last 10 games, with points in eight of those as the entire team appears to be rolling as of late.
Whether or not they ultimately make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, only time will tell, but it always takes some luck to get there, so now we wait and see whether this bit of luck and a crucial one point can help this young team get over the line.
