NHL Punishes Both Tom Wilson and Josh Anderson After Crazy Fight on the Bench
During the Capitals vs. Canadiens matchup, things got crazy on the bench, and now, the two main culprits have been punished by the NHL after one of the wildest scenes we've seen in recent NHL memory.
The Montreal Canadiens picked up their first win in this seasons Stanley Cup Playoffs on Friday night, and it was one of the most entertaining games the NHL has seen in quite some time.
The Bell Centre was rocking, and at the end of the second period, things got wild, with Tom Wilson, Josh Anderson and an official managing to get their way into a scuffle on the bench.
Unsurprisingly, it has now been revealed that both have been fined $5,000 by the NHL's Department of Player Safety, the maximum allowable for unsportsmanlike conduct.
While it may not have been sportsmanlike, the moment had the entire NHL and sports world talking, showing just why the Stanley Cup Playoffs are a different beast entirely to other sports.
In front of a raucous crowd in Montreal, these two teams will do battle again on Sunday, and with no suspensions (rightfully so) given out, these two will no doubt clash again on the ice, and it could lead to more and more craziness.
Ultimately, fighting like this isn't something that the league would ever condone, but given how much the fans in attendance and casual fans enjoy that aspect of the league, this was definitely a great moment that got everyone talking, and with the underdog Habs now down just 2-1 in the series, the Bell Centre should be rocking again as they look to push it to 2-2 and make this a genuine series.
