Now, a report from The Athletic's James Mirtle has touched on exactly that point, as he has revealed that the Predators do not 'see a realistic path to being good', and that's certainly not the way they expected things to go after last summer.
Regardless of if that happens or not, the Predators have very few intriguing prospects, not a lot of extra draft picks and a core that's ageing, and in the modern NHL, that's simply a recipe for disaster.
Ultimately, this is a team that has some veteran talent, but in terms of depth, there's just nothing there, and with no positive future in sight, don't be surprised to see this team become major sellers in the near future.
