The New Jersey Devils and the Carolina Hurricanes are playing in game 3 of their second-round series, and to say these two teams don't like each other is putting it mildly.
In the first period, with the Devils holding a 2-0, forward Tomas Tatar doesn't like the cross-check he receives after the play and retaliates by swinging his stick at Sebastian Aho's head, take a look:
Tomas Tatar did not like being cross-checked by Sebastian Aho, catching him high with his retaliation
Tatar was assessed a two-minute penalty for high sticking on the play while it could've been a lot of he had of hit Aho flush with the wild stick swing.
How this is only a two-minute penalty is beyond me. Clearly intent to injure from here and hell be able to play the rest of the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Department of Player Safety at least looked at this stick-swinging incident, but if nothing happens, it would be uncommon either.
The NHL needs to start cracking down on incidents like this before they continue to get worse.
