SImon Nemec was once the No. 2 overall pick by the New Jersey Devils, but after being moved to the AHL again, he's expressing frustration with the situation, as he believes he's ready for a role at the top level that he's simply not being given right now.
The New Jersey Devils have one of the most talented rosters in the entire NHL, and with top prospect
Simon Nemec tallying
five points in a recent AHL game with the Utica Comets, the future is bright as well.
However, the 20-year old isn't too happy with his situation, as he is three years removed from being drafted by New Jersey, and clearly expecting to take the next step in his hockey journey with the team.
When asked about his situation, the former No. 2 overall draft pick hinted at a trade request, showing signs of frustration that he is still playing at the AHL level, despite being behind a loaded blue line in the NHL.
I can't remember any number two draft pick that went to the farm for a third year. It's still too early to request a trade, if this situation continues, it will have to be addressed.
It's not like Nemec has struggled at either level, as he has 20 points in his 69 career NHL games dating back to the 2023/24 season, and with 16 points in 23 AHL games this season, it's clear that he's ready to get a full shot at the NHL.
