Despite having low expectations coming into the 2024/25 season, the New York Islanders have struggled in a big way, so much so that Head Coach Patrick Roy called out the team earlier this season by addressing their fans in a shocking moment.
Unfortunately for New York, their veterans simply haven't played up to expectations and that's hurt them quite significantly, with a player like Pierre Engvall struggling to help the team at all.
That has clearly frustrated Head Coach Patrick Roy, who was asked about Engvall heading into their next game and what he's seen from him recently, with the coach needing to compose himself before addressing the talented but struggling player.
In 43 games this season, the 28-year old veteran has managed just 4 goals and 8 points while carrying a -8 differential, and with a further five years on his deal beyond this one, the hope is that he can get something going.
As for his relationship with Roy, things don't look too promising at this stage, but hopefully with both expected to be around for quite some time to come, they can work together and build a partnership that helps New York move forward whether they're rebuilding, re-tooling or whatever Lou Lamoriello sees this team doing.
