In a shocking turn of events, Islanders' Adam Beckman, currently playing in the AHL, has been suspended 10 games after he slammed an official into the boards.

Bridgeport Islanders forward Adam Beckman has been handed a 10-game suspension by the American Hockey League's (AHL) Player Safety Committee for a skirmish with an official.
The suspension follows an incident during a game against the Charlotte Checkers on April 5. According to the AHL, Beckman's actions were in violation of Rule 40.3, physical abuse of officials, in Category II offenses.
This category calls for a mandatory automatic suspension of 10 games because of the seriousness of the action at hand.
The American Hockey League's Player Safety Committee today announced that Bridgeport Islanders forward Adam Beckman has been suspended for 10 games as a consequence of an incident in a game vs. Charlotte on Apr. 5.

Beckman was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 40.3 for physical abuse of an official (Category II).

Beckman will miss Bridgeport's final five games of the 2024-25 regular season, as well as the next five games for which he is active on an AHL club roster.
Because of the suspension, Beckman will be made to miss the rest of the Islanders' regular season, which has five games left on the schedule. The last five games of the suspension will be served the next time Beckman is on an AHL roster.

Beckman is a free agent at the end of this season

That may not come until next season, as the 23-year-old forward is set to become a free agent at the end of the present season.
Prior to the suspension, Beckman had been playing well at the AHL level. In 55 games this season with the Utica Comets and the Bridgeport Islanders, he has recorded a total of 40 points.
He joined Bridgeport on March 7 after being acquired in a trade for defenseman Dennis Cholowski.
