The New York Islanders have struggled throughout 2024/25, and now as the season heats up again, their Head Coach has promised fans better from the team in a shocking moment during a recent open practice as the team look to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs race.
Unfortunately, the team haven't been able to turn things around on the ice either, as the team come out of the holiday break with a 13-15-7 record through 35 games played, with the team currently sitting in last place in the Metropolitan Division.
Now, Roy has used an open practice as a way to address the fans, as he recently took to the microphone on the to promise the fans better, revealing that both he and the team will work incredibly hard to improve moving forward.
With the team having several big names reaching free agency this upcoming summer, if their performance doesn't improve in the weeks after the holiday break, we may finally see Lamoriello and this team push the reset button on this roster.
Some fans on social media were critical of the move, while others saw it as a refreshing move from a coach to be so open with the teams struggles, but unless something changes, this will just be another move that could lead to a change behind the bench in New York.
Ultimately, the Islanders simply don't have the talent to compete with the top teams in the Eastern Conference, and unless Lamiorello goes out and acquires a top star, 2024/25 could go down as another wasted year in the history of the franchise.
