Noah Dobson has not played since January 20th, when he got injured in a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Since his injury is rather serious, Lou Lamoriello elected to sign controversial defenseman Tony DeAngelo to run the top powerplay in Dobson's absence.
DeAngelo has played well for the Islanders since then, putting up 4 points in 6 games, albeit none on the man advantage.
That being said, it seems like DeAngelo could have a place on the Islanders for more than just this season as reporters emerged recently that the team was shopping the injured Dobson.
However, as NHL reporter Anthony LaRocco pointed out, Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello has been known to back out of trades if they leak to the public before they are finalized.
As a result, any trade that was potentially in the works for the 24-year-old blueliner could now be in jeopardy.
Should the Islanders continue with their plans to trade Dobson though, they could get a very nice return as he is still just 24, shoots right-handed, and already has a 70-point season under his belt.
The Hockey News reporter Stefan Rosner reports that the Vancouver Canucks are one team to keep an eye on regarding Dobson.
The Canucks and Islanders have been trade partners in recent years, with the Bo Horvat deal standing out as a major exchange between the two clubs.
It is not uncommon for the same teams to make multiple deals with each other over the course of a few seasons, so be sure to keep an eye on both clubs as we head into the offseason.
