Rangers place 868-game NHL veteran on unconditional waivers for contract termination
The New York Rangers are moving on from a long-time member of the National Hockey League.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the New York Rangers have placed forward Nick Bonino on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
"The #NYR have placed Nick Bonino on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination."
Bonino, 35, has appeared in 868 games across his 15-year career in the National Hockey League and has put up five points (one goal, four assists), eight penalty minutes and was a minus-12 in 45 games for the New York Rangers.
Recently, the Rangers placed Bonino on regular waivers, which he cleared, before being assigned to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack, but never appeared in any games for them.
In other related news, the Winnipeg Jets announced that 25-year-old forward Axel Jonsson-Fjällby has been placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to the AHL's Manitoba Moose.
