The New York Rangers could miss the post-season in 2025, and as a result, a top insider believes Peter Laviolette may be on the way out in the summer.

This season hasn't gone the way that anyone in New York would have expected, and unsurprisingly, given their high expectations, fans have expressed frustration on the organization, especially Peter Laviolette.
That hasn't stopped much on social media, as calls continue for Laviolette's job, and with the Rangers sitting just outside the Wild Card race in the Eastern Conference, if they were to miss the post-season, those calls would only grow louder and louder.
At this point in time, the Rangers are tied with the Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets for the final Wild Card spot, but with both of those teams playing well as of late, the Rangers will need great play and plenty of luck on their side down the stretch.
Now, top NHL Insider Frank Seravalli has addressed the situation, revealing his thoughts on Laviolette's role in New York while predicting that he will no longer be the Rangers Head Coach after the first day of the off-season.
"I'll be very surprised if Peter Laviolette is the coach of the New York Rangers on May 1st."
This is certainly a sentiment that is echoed around the Rangers organization, as many believe that Laviolette should have been moved on already, and with some big name coaches available, the Rangers will need to move quickly.
The likes of Joel Quenneville, Rick Tocchet or even John Tortorella among many others could be options for the Rangers depending on how the next month plays out, but if New York struggle to make it deep in the post-season with this roster, it's safe to say that fans wanting Laviolette out should get their wish fairly quickly.
