Nothing seems to be working for the New York Rangers recently. Despite rumors of big changes in the team's core, with Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider, and Jacob Trouba involved in trade talks, the players are struggling to turn things around.
Their 12-8-1 record is nowhere as good as what they did last season when they won the Presidents' Trophy, which could force Chris Drury to make significant decisions in the coming months.
The team is in a great position to add a lot of talent to their roster if they're willing to part ways with key trade assets.
A new report from The Athletic's Arthur Staple and Peter Baugh revealed that Drury showed interest in one of the best players in the Vancouver Canucks organization: J.T. Miller.
As of now, Miller is on an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons. While fans are curious as to why he stepped away from the team, most respect his personal life and accept that they'll know more when the player is ready to open up to the public.
But that didn't stop the Rangers from inquiring about him, per Staple and Baugh. The reporters added that the Rangers tried to get him back in 2022 before Miller signed a seven-year, $8 million AAV extension in Vancouver.
And let's not forget that the Rangers drafted Miller back in 2011 at the 15th overall pick.

However, his no-move clause could come in the way of a deal from happening. Unless he decides to lift it, Miller will stay a member of the Canucks for the duration of his contract.
Meanwhile, fans hope to see Miller back in the lineup soon. This season, the veteran tallied six goals and ten assists, with a +1 rating, in 17 games.
