The New York Rangers are looking to bounce back in 2025/26, and in free agency they've now added a very intriguing young forward from the AHL.

The 2024/25 campaign in New York was one of the most disappointing in franchise history, and since that point, there have been so many changes for the Rangers, with the team trading names like Filip Chytil, Chris Kreider and Kaapo Kakko.
They've added some talent too, and on Thursday they locked in another intriguing name, as they inked forward young Trey Fix-Wolansky to a one-year, two-way deal worth $775,000.

The 26-year old has spent the last two seasons with the Cleveland Monsters in the American Hockey League, producing very well in that time with a combined 52 goals and 120 points in 123 games played, showing immense potential.
However, when he gets to the NHL level, he's less productive, as he has posted just 4 goals and 6 points in 26 games with the Blue Jackets dating back to the 2021/22 campaign.
Standing at 5-foot-7, it's easy to see why he's struggled to adapt to the competition at the NHL level thus far, and while he's likely to be an AHLer for the New York Rangers moving forward, it's a solid move for them to take a chance on his immense upside.
Ultimately, this is just a solid move for Chris Drury and the team as they look to replenish the depth up front that they've lost over the past few years, so while he may not be an NHLer moving forward, if the Rangers can bring Fix-Wolansky's AHL production to the NHL level, it could be a steal of a deal for them.
