New York Rangers top prospects have truly displayed their talents during game-one of the Rookie Series against division rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.
Unfortunately, the Rangers ended up taking a 4-3 loss against the Flyers in the first Rookie Series game on Friday night. However, there were some positives that came from the game.
Mostly surrounding prospects
Scott Morrow and
Brennan Othmann, as the two prospects made a massive impact every time they were on the ice.
Throughout game one on Friday night, Brennan Othamnn managed to score a gaol in the first period and defensive prospect Scott Morrow recorded two assists. Both players made their presence known on the ice and have surely made a positive impression on the coaches.
Brennan Othmann Builds Confidence After Scoreless Tenure In The NHL
Prior to the Rangers rookie camp starting, Othmann opened up on how he was struggling with his confidence after not scoring a single goal in his 22 games with the New York Rangers last season.
Why did #NYR Brennan Othmann lose confidence last season? Did he not feel like he belonged?
«No, no I did. I feel like I belong. I still think I belong. Not scoring a goal is tough, and a lot of people know that. I wasn't questioning my abilities or my game or anything like that It just wasn't going in. It's not like I was playing bad hockey. Sometimes it happens, and that takes a toll on your mind.»
So for him to be able to score early in game one of the Rookie Series will surly give him a much needed confidence boost heading into the 2025-26 season, and even into game two of the Rookie Series.
Scott Morrow Proves The New York Rangers Made The Right Choice
The 22-year old prospect was acquired by the Rangers from the Carolina Hurricanes in the
K'Andre Miller trade this offseason. And quickly made a positive impact and showed the Rangers what he's capable of.
«Honestly, I'm not focused on the outcome of camp as much as just the process of, you know, being in my second year pro now, trying to show how much I've grown, trying to show this brand new organization what kind of player I am,» Morrow said. «Obviously, they traded for me, so obviously, they see something in me. I just want to make the best first impression that I can.»
The Rangers and Flyers will play the second game of the Rookie Series on Saturday at 5PM, and hopefully this time they can pull of a victory.
