The NHL's Department of Player Safety made a final decision on Matt Rempe's controversial play in last night's game against the Nashville Predators.
The team proved it once again last night in a 4-0 win over the Nashville Predators.
The Preds aren't going anywhere this year, and they will be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline, so we didn't expect much from them. The Rangers took that opportunity to add two more points to their season tally.
But Nashville still had to keep their heads up going against the Rangers, as a certain Matt Rempe never shies away from making physical plays on the ice.
Earlier this season, Rempe was even suspended for eight games for a dirty play on Dallas Stars defenseman
Miro Heiskanen.
If you missed it, here's what he did to get that punishment:
After the hit, Rempe answered the call and dropped the gloves against
Andreas Englund, who wanted to avenge his fallen teammate.
He only got a two-minute penalty for elbowing on the play, but as we saw in the past, the DoPS doesn't only review game misconducts.
In a new development, we learned that despite his suspension history, Rempe won't face any consequences from the NHL's DoPS.
This season, Rempe, 22, was limited to only 25 games in the NHL, often a healthy scratch, suspended, or in the AHL. He scored only four points in that time but has a +5 rating and accumulated 48 penalty minutes.
