Professional sports teams and celebrity ownership is nothing new. But it definitely appears that the NHL is finally looking to dabble further into this market. Today the news broke that another famous musician is looking to become a part of an NHL ownership group.

While most reports have linked Ryan Reynolds to the ownership of the Ottawa Senators it now appears musician Snoop Dogg is heavily involved as well. Today The Athletic confirmed these reports.

BREAKING: The Athletic has confirmed Snoop Dogg is part of Neko Sparks bid to purchase the Ottawa Senators.

The iconic artist is part of consortium planning on making aggressive bid to buy the NHL team.

It's certainly a plot twist.

While, this may not seem like a conventional fit other markets like Seattle have taken on celebrity partners over recent years. With the NHL looking to grow the game, a recognizable figure like Snoop could definitely do that.

It also wouldn't be outside of the realm of possibility that the NHL could look to unite multiple bidders to try and create a super ownership group. Reports surfaced last week that Reynolds and his ownership group were willing and ready to present a bid over 1 billion dollars. This sort of sale will drastically push up market values of teams around the league.
