Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk shoots down trade rumours
Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk shoots down trade rumours on a recent podcast appearance.
Brady Tkachuk's name has come up in trade rumours for months now and were first mentioned by Ryan Whitney of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast back in February. Whitney said his sources have told him Ottawa could move Brady Tkachuk, which ultimately hasn't happened and won't happen.
"The sens have something cooking right now. Rumor Boys hearing that Ottawa would maybe move Brady Tkachuk. Can't believe it though because no one could be that dumb. 9 points out of playoffs with 2 games in hand" Whitney said back at the end of February.
A few months after that rumour from Ryan Whitney, Ottawa Senators General Manager Steve Staios had his say on the matter and called it 'complete B.S.'
This week, Brady Tkachuk was a guest on the Locked On Senators podcast and was asked about those rumours. Tkachuk turned down the rumours, saying he wants to remain in Ottawa and his goal is to bring a Stanley Cup to Canada's capital, something that hasn't been done since the original Senators did so back in 1927.
"[The rumours] are exactly why I got off of social media because these rumours came out of no-where and are not at all how I'm feeling. I've always said that my number one goal is to bring a Stanley Cup back to Ottawa /.../ the dream and the fire to do it burns even more now, the rumours are nowhere near true." Tkachuk said.
Next season is a big one for the Ottawa Senators. With a new head coach in Travis Green, the Senators need to take a big step forward and return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017. Anything less than a playoff spot, whether it be one of the three spots in the Atlantic Division or a wild card position, would be a disastrous season for the Ottawa Senators. If Ottawa is going to make the playoffs, they'll need a big season offensively from Brady Tkachuk and those around him including Tim Stutzle, Shane Pinto, Drake Batherson and others.
