Daniel Briere has made two embarrassing mistakes this offseason that can't continue to happen if he wants to be successful
Daniel Briere was an amazing play and early returns suggest that he'll be a great general manager, but he still has a lot to learn if he wants to be successful at the management level.
He's made some great moves like moving Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets, but it's the moves he hasn't made or rather hasn't been able to make that have made him look like the rookie GM that he is around the league.
Overall I like Briere offseason so far, particularly creative Provorov trade + stealth Michkov recruitment
However, Briere also "finalized" two moves - one where they hadn't gotten guy to waive NTC and other where they didn't know league protocols
Have to be a bit more thorough
Recruiting Matvei Michkov secretly so the Flyers could take him at 7 was another good move, but his inability to know the league rules have hampered his ability to make the Flyers better this off-season.
Briere just had the interim tag taken off of his GM title May 11th. He'll learn, but he'll need to learn fast in order to not be looked at awkwardly around the league.
