With new General Manager Daniel Briere taking over the role from Chuck Fletcher just after the trade deadline, this offseason will be the first opportunity for Briere to make his impact on the roster.

The Flyers, currently seventh last place in the league, will have a high draft pick and millions in cap space this upcoming offseason, giving Briere a clean slate to direct the rebuild. Included with that, is even listening to trade offers on almost any player on the team, even if signed to a long term contract.

This could involve core Flyers players of the last couple years, including Scott Laughton, Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov, Travis Konecny, and even young prospects that have been rumoured to be unhappy, like Joel Farabee.

With John Tortorella's taking over the head coaching job this season, he was vocal several times of his role to identify players that could fit the vision of the rebuilding Flyers. Previously reporting to Fletcher, it's not a reach to assume he'll keep those conversations a priority with Briere as GM.

As a historic franchise and a great sports city, it's tough to see the Philadelphia Flyers in their current state. Hopefully, the hire of Briere and the new vision throughout the rebuild will lead the Flyers back to relevance in the NHL.
