In some sad news coming out of the hockey world, Ed Van Impe, former captain of the Flyers and Stanley Cup Champion, has passed away at the age of 84.

Sadly, Ed Van Impe, who was the second captain in Philadelphia Flyers history, passed away late on Tuesday night at the age of 84, which was reported by Bill Meltzer and the Flyers Alumni through a social media X post.
It was reported that Van Impe passed away with his family surrounding him by his side.

Van Impe won two Stanley Cups with the Flyers

Van Impe was an exceptional defenseman for the Flyers, whom many called the team's stalwart. He won not one, but two Stanley Cups with the team. After he hung up the skates, Van Impe went into TV broadcasting.
The Flyers organization issued a heartwarming statement following his passing, as he will be remembered by many within the organization and Philadelphia community.
"The Flyers mourn the loss of a leader and original Philadelphia Flyer in Ed Van Impe. We offer our deepest condolences to his teammates, who had the privilege to play beside him, and his family and friends who were close to him during this difficult time."
