The firing of John Tortorella has been one of the biggest stories in the NHL, and now more information has come to light about why the Flyers made the call.
We've heard from many sides about what happened with York, and while we'll likely never know the entire story, it's safe to say that for many in Philadelphia, this was a long time coming, with the fans especially calling for him to be moved on before it happened.
Now, reporter Anthony Di Marco has doubled down on that idea, revealing that before his departure, Tortorella was growing combative with many in the organization, with the York situation being the straw that simply broke the camels back.
While Di Marco doesn't name which people in the organization were getting tired of his antics, the fans certainly were, as many rejoiced when Torts was fired as they were sick of the way he treated the young, incredibly talented players in the organization.
In fact, the reporter reveals that once source has explicitly speculated that Tortorella may have been trying to get fired, as the team had gone no where under his guidance over the last three years.
Now, this will likely serve as the final warning for those around the league that are considering hiring Tortorella, as he's simply not made for the modern day NHL, and if a team does go ahead with hiring him, it could be one of the worst moves they could make for their future.
