Penguins place recently-acquired forward on unconditional waivers to terminate contract
One day after making a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they're terminating the contract of one of the players they acquired.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Karel Plasek on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
"Karel Plasek -- acquired yesterday by PIT from VCR -- is on unconditional waivers for purposes of contract termination" Friedman said.
Plasek, 23, spent the 2022-23 season in Czechia with Olomouc HC on a loan from the Vancouver Canucks, where he put up 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 31 regular season games. He followed that up with a strong performance in the playoffs by tallying five points in seven games.
Once Plasek clears unconditional waivers on Thursday afternoon, he'll have his contract terminated and will likely be returning to Czechia, potentially to play with Olomouc HC again.
