GM Kyle Dubas Earns New Role On Team Canada For Upcoming Tournament

Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas, now with the Pittsburgh Penguins, is reportedly going to serve as GM of Team Canada in the World Championships.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas, who now serves in the same role with the Pittsburgh Penguins, will reportedly have the same role in international play this spring.
Per TSN's Chris Johnston, Dubas is set to be named the General Manager of Team Canada in the upcoming IIHF World Championships.
Last year, Dubas was the Associate General Manager of Team Canada at the 2024 World Championships in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia, serving beside General Manager Rick Nash.
This year's World Championship will take place from May 9 through May 25 in Stockholm, Sweden.
But not everything has been sunshine and rainbows for Dubas this season.
Kyle Dubas Under Fire From Former NHL Defenseman P.K. Subban
Last month, Dubas was the target of sharp criticism from former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban, who blasted the executive for not putting a competitive team around aging star captain Sidney Crosby:

Regardless of Subban's view, Dubas is still held in high regard by Team Canada executives if they're tabbing him to oversee Team Canada at the upcoming World Championships and improve upon their fourth place disappointment in 2024.
