In one of the most shocking moves of the season, it was revealed that the Pittsburgh Penguins have plans to waive their top goaltender today.
The Penguins will put Tristan Jarry on waivers later today at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, where he'll remain for 24 hours, as was first reported by NHL insider Chris Johnston.
Jarry has struggled mightily this season. Through his 21 starts, he has given up a goal very early on in games.
- First shot he faces: 6 times
- Second shot he faces: 4 times
- Third shot he faces: 2 times
- Fourth shot he faces: 3 times
That's 15 times within the first four shots of a given game, which has been driving the management of the Penguins crazy. They have had absolutely no consistency from him this season.
Jarry was asked what went wrong in one of his losses earlier this season, and his answer definitely did not please his coaches or GM, which may have likely led to the waiver move today.
«I think we just kind of stopped playing in their end," he'd reply. "They kind of took it to us a little bit. We got stuck on our heels, and they were able to get around us and get to pucks quicker.»

We will get an official confirmation in a few hours today that he has been waived, and then 24 hours after that, we will know if a team has decided to claim him.
