Since the beginning of the National Hockey League off-season, it's largely been a forgone conclusion that at some point before the season started Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins would agree to terms on a new contract that would keep him with the team. Crosby's latest comments, have cast a shadow of doubt over that idea.
According to Rob Rossi, a senior writer at The Athletic, Crosby might've leaked his possible future with the team earlier this week when discussing a possible extension.
No one noticed that Crosby left the door open for a possibility that he'll be moved. Crosby realizes that he is getting older and general manager Kyle Dubas has to do what he feels is right for the direction of the team as they continue to rebuild.
Crosby recognizes the change in direction that the Penguins are going through and a player nearing the end of his career, he wants to be in a position to win again.
It's definitely weird to think about Sidney Crosby who has always been with the Pittsburgh Penguins in a different city, wearing a different jersey, from the sounds of it though, he knows that's a real possibility.
