Sidney Crosby sent a clear message on the Penguins' future to the President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the team, Kyle Dubas.

The next few days will be crucial for Sidney Crosby, Kyle Dubas, and the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. After another disappointing season for the Pens, the team decided to part ways with Mike Sullivan as head coach, and now, a few weeks later, the search process is underway.
Many rumors are going around concerning the top contenders for the job, as well as who will make the call. A lot of people believed that the team captain, Sidney Crosby, would have a say in the hiring process, as he is on the final stretch of his career and could decide to change teams if he doesn't like the next coach.
However, in a recent interview with Josh Yohe published on The Athletic, Crosby revealed that he doesn't have any say in the hiring process, and he likes it better that way.
When he was asked why, he replied that he's not a manager but a hockey player, although he wouldn't mind giving his opinion if they ask him.
In his own words:
"I don't have any say on who our next coach is going to be. And I prefer it that way."

Why?

"Because, ultimately, I'm a hockey player. I'm not out there coaching games. I am not a manager.

If he wants my opinion on someone who's out there, and someone who is out there that I might have had as coach before or someone I've heard about, then sure, then I'll share my opinion."
Sullivan and Crosby worked together for 10 seasons, and the next coach in Pittsburgh could be Crosby's last in the NHL. The fact that he doesn't really care about the process and doesn't want to choose the next coach shows his great leadership and character.
Hopefully, he won't regret it after the Penguins officialize their new hire.
