The waiver wire on Monday afternoon is set to feature a former first-round pick according to Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic.

Rutherford said in a post on social media on Monday that the Blues will be placing Jakub Vrana on waivers this afternoon.

"Jakub Vrana will be placed on waivers by the Blues, according to a source."

The Prague native was selected 13th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by Washington and has gone on to appear in 365 games in the league for the Capitals, Red Wings and Blues across eight seasons, where he has 209 points and a Stanley Cup ring, which he earned in 2018.

In 19 games this season for St. Louis, the 27-year-old has recorded six points (two goals, four assists), eight penalty minutes and is a minus-five.
