Former teammate shares some strong words about his first meeting with 'arrogant' Tage Thompson in St. Louis
During an appearance on the 'Cam and Strick' podcast with Andy Strickland and Cam Janssen, former NHL forward Patrik Berglund was asked about his former teammate and current star Tage Thompson when he arrived in St. Louis.
"I hated Tage Thompson." Berglund said jokingly.
When asked why, Berglund said, "He came into the Blues too and didn't really make the team and he was just kind of like a little arrogant. He came here right away and thought he was a big deal. Like, dude come on. And then he didn't make the team, he came in a couple of times here and there. Then we went in the package deal to Buffalo and I met him in Buffalo and he walked around like he was a big deal again. I was like 'God, damn it.'"
Berglund and Thompson were teammates in St. Louis during the 2017-18 season and then were traded together to the Buffalo Sabres in the Ryan O'Reilly trade on July 1st 2018. They would then spend another season together in Buffalo before Berglund headed back to Sweden to finish off his professional career and Thompson slowly grew into the star player he is today.
