Ryan Reaves Opens Up About Harsh Way He Found Out About Leafs' Trade to Sharks
Ryan Reaves is now a member of the San Jose Sharks after he was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the West Coast this week in a late night deal.
NHL enforcer Ryan Reaves is one of the last of a dying breed of players in the NHL, a figure who is more utilized for dropping the gloves than anything else.
Reaves, who previously played for the Vegas Golden Knights and helped them reach the Stanley Cup Final in their 1st year in the NHL, found out about the trade while appearing in Vegas at a fan meet and greet session.
It's good to see that they still love me, I'm not gonna lie and you guys are actually gonna get the first scoop here, they may start hating me pretty soon because I just got traded to the Sharks. We'll see how that goes over with the fans.
Reaves also touched on his now-former Maple Leafs teammate
Mitch Marner, who is now with the Golden Knights after a sign and trade deal.
We got one of the best player in the world coming in here for sure, Mitchy was one of the best players in the League the last couple years, and you guys are going to love him. I'm jealous I'm not playing with him anymore.
Reaves signed a 3-year deal with the Maple Leafs in 2023, but was sent down to the AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies earlier this year, where he only played in 3 games.
He has 137 points (63G, 74A) in 912 career NHL games, along with 1,100 penalty minutes, many of which came from 5-minute fighting majors.
