Experienced General Manager not interested in interviewing with Toronto Maple Leafs after Brendan Shanahan's recent behavior

When Brendan Shanahan took to the podium to share that he'd relieved Kyle Dubas of his General Manager duties, he shared that he was looking for a replacement that had some experience. Shanahan felt experience would help a new manager navigate the market.

However, during Shanahan's press conference he was extremely candid about the entire process which led to the termination of Kyle Dubas. Apparently according to Elliotte Friedman, at least one experienced General Manager was put off by Shanny's transparency.

Friedman shared the following conversation on the latest edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast.

"He said to me that what he didn't like about all this is that the Maple Leafs aired all that dirty laundry. He said that he could go in there and he could have a good run and when it's all over all of his business could be thrown out like that. He said that would give him pause." - Elliotte Friedman on a conversation with another executive about the Leafs' vacant GM job

It's clear that while Shanahan was looking to provide some clarity to fans, all he may have done is made his own job more difficult. If Shanahan is unable to get out of his own way, it'll become very difficult to add that experienced member to the team that Shanahan is after.
