Then five days later, he was reportedly in Pittsburgh to meet with the Penguins and even met with their superstar captain Sidney Crosby. The Penguins seem keen on hiring him and want him to be their next General Manager, but Dubas has his sights on another opportunity.
Going to the Senators would mean that Dubas gets to keep his family in Ontario and not have to move them far away after a stressful year in Toronto, but it is also a little odd to assume that the new ownership group will fire Pierre Dorion. Sure, the new ownership group will want to have their own stamp on things, that's a given, but it's not a foregone conclusion that Dorion's job is at risk.
It's also very unlikely that Dubas goes to the Senators to take on a lesser role than he had with Toronto, especially when he has a General Manager position right in front of him with the Pittsburgh Penguins, if he wants to go there.
