Rumor - William Nylander trade offer revealed
William Nylander and his agent Lewis Gross are reportedly asking the Toronto Maple Leafs for a contract valued at over 80 million dollars. According to multiple insiders the Nylander Camp believes his contract should be in the neighborhood of 10 million dollars per season for 8 years. Reports state the Maple Leafs believe Nylander's salary should begin in the 8 million dollar range.
That leaves approximately 16 million between the two parties. That number isn't impossible to bridge, but someone will need to blink sooner than later. If the two parties are unable to come to an agreement, the Maple Leafs have made it clear they will trade William Nylander.
According to reports from NHL Trade Rumors there is one rumor that won't go away.
The NHL rumor that has gained the most traction is Hanifin and Mikael Backlund at 50% retained for Nylander. Both Backlund and Hanifin have made it clear they have no intention on remaining in Calgary, making a trade all that much more likely. However questions remain, would either player be willing to sign an extension with the Leafs? Would Nylander be willing to sign with the Flames?
Until that becomes more clear, it's truly wait and see.
