Toronto Maple Leafs player admits he was in talks with Kyle Dubas on new contract, isn't sure what's happening now
The Toronto Maple Leafs front office is in disarray; that's no secret. Ever since Kyle Dubas was let go with virtually no backup plan, it left many wondering what comes next.
Newly re-acquired Leafs defender Luke Schenn revealed that before it was announced that Dubas would not be renewed, he was working on an extension with the former general manager; take a look.
Luke Schenn mentions that he was engaged in extension talks with the Leafs just prior to Kyle Dubas being relieved of his duties late last week.
Hopefully, the two sides can get together once the Leafs hire a new GM and grind away and a new deal done before July 1st.
Schenn, 33, was a welcome addition to the Leafs blueline at the trade deadline this season. Working his way up from a bottom pairing role to being paired with Morgan Reilly through the playoffs.
It sounds like he wants to sign an extension, but obviously because the Leafs don't have a general manager at the moment extension talks have been placed on hold.
Schenn is exactly the type of player the Leads need on the back end, physical, boxes out in his own zone and isn't afraid to drop the gloves. I hope when a new GM is hired a Schenn extension is still a priority.
