UFA's Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin who played last season with the New York Islanders could be offered PTO's by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Every summer around this time more than a handful of veterans remain unsigned but feel they add value and can find a purpose on a team if just given one more chance, thus a PTO may be the way to go. If the reports indicated are accurate, the Toronto Maple Leafs may reach out to Cal Clutterbuck & Matt Martin to gauge their interest in coming to camp on a Pro Try Out.
Both Clutterbuck and Martin have played close to 1000 games in the National Hockey League, but it's Martin who is familiar with the Leafs as he suited up for the team for parts of two seasons between 2016-2018.
When analyzing their respective games, the two play a similar type of way. Both can check hard and are not afraid to drop the gloves either to defend a teammate or spark their club when they feel it's needed. While neither of them will put up a ton of points, they will try to wear down the opponent which is something the Maple Leafs have desperately needed for a while.
As a PTO works, nobody should get their hopes up or run out to buy a Clutterbuck jersey or pull their Martin jersey from the back of their closet but the idea of the pair coming to Toronto offers incredible intrigue.
