Kiefer Sherwood is back in trade deadline rumors, and Colorado Avalanche fans feel the squeeze with Friday coming fast.

On Monday, Ryan O'Hara said he's hearing Sherwood «could be on the move again.» It's smoke, but it's the kind that usually shows up for a reason.
Sherwood's season already flipped once. Vancouver moved him to the San Jose Sharks on January 19.
The price tag was real, Cole Clayton plus second-round picks in 2026 and 2027. That's why the idea of another move feels wild, but not impossible.
Sherwood also has actual production to sell. He's at 17-6-23 in 44 games across Vancouver and San Jose.
Here's the post that kicked the chatter back up.
If the Sharks slide into full sell mode, a finisher with pace becomes a quick call for contenders. Sherwood plays straight lines, gets on pucks, and lives around rebounds.
The contract makes him easy to fit. He carries a $1.5 million cap hit, and he's on track for UFA status after the season.

Kiefer Sherwood and the Colorado Avalanche fit feels familiar

Avs fans are in that classic headspace right now, excited by any useful name, but tired of the daily cap math and rumor roulette.
Sherwood is 30 and undrafted, and he earned his way in by signing with Anaheim as a college free agent in 2018. That kind of path usually means a player knows exactly who he is.
The Colorado angle isn't random either. Sherwood has already had a previous stop in the Avalanche organization earlier in his career, so the comfort level is there.
If Colorado wants a bottom-six winger who can pop a goal and stay responsible, Sherwood checks that box. The question is cost, because San Jose won't gift-wrap a player it just paid up for.
Deadline timing matters too. The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 6, and once the market tightens, prices jump in a hurry.
This might end as nothing more than noise. But Sherwood's name surfacing again tells you teams are circling, and one phone call can flip the week for Colorado.
