Canucks offer Kiefer Sherwood to the Maple Leafs for ridiculous asking price

Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood appears to be on the market, and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been afforded a very expensive opportunity.

The Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs are two teams in very similar circumstances right now. They should be a lot better, but they find themselves near the bottom of their respective divisions.

With that in mind, both teams are going to be active in the trade market. Whether they will be buyers or sellers remains to be seen. However, it does appear as though the Canucks are set to be sellers.

Kiefer Sherwood is one of the players the Canucks are thinking of moving. He can give you 40 points in a season, and he is a player who doesn't mind throwing the body around.

The Vancouver Canucks look to trade Kiefer Sherwood

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Canucks want to get younger. Sherwood is just 30 years old, but he remains a veteran player who could get moved very soon.

According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that - in an effort to get younger - they are willing to listen to offers on 'veteran players.'

A team like the Toronto Maple Leafs would love someone like Sherwood. A middle-six guy who can actually get you points and score some goals.

Unfortunately, according to David Pagnotta, the price for Sherwood is exorbitantly high. The Leafs would have to give a first-round pick, something they don't really have.

I am hearing it's a first round pick plus for Kiefer Sherwood.

At the end of the day, it seems unlikely that the Leafs and Canucks will do business here, at least when it comes to Sherwood.

However, with the trade deadline coming up, the Leafs and Canucks will continue to be some of the biggest stories in the league.
