Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid does not seem interested in a contract extension right now, and it is leading to Toronto Maple Leafs speculation.
Connor McDavid is one of the best players the game of hockey has ever seen; however, he is still missing that elusive Stanley Cup.
Overall, the Edmonton Oilers have yet to give him one, and there is this fear that he will never win without a good goalie on the team.
The Oilers have not gotten themselves a new goaltender, and some believe this has contributed to some frustration from the McDavid camp, and rightfully so.
Is Connor McDavid coming home to the Toronto Maple Leafs?
According to Chris Johnston, who was on the 'Steve Dangle Podcast,' Connor McDavid has not engaged in contract extension talks with the Oilers.
This has drummed up quite a bit of speculation, with Toronto Maple Leafs fans putting the pieces together. Quite simply, they believe this is a sign that McDavid is coming home.
To my knowledge there's been no discussions about an extension yet
Recently, McDavid was in Ontario, where he participated in a beer league game. Overall, this was a huge source of speculation, with some believing that McDavid yearns to play in the country's biggest market.
Of course, there is no rush for McDavid to sign an extension. He is probably waiting to see how things shape out for the team come October, when the season begins.
Having said that, we imagine the Oilers are on thin ice right now, and McDavid is not going to tolerate anything less than a championship.
If they don't give him that, then who knows where he goes next.
