Craig Berube Completely Disrespected by the Rest of the NHL
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was one of the best coaches in the NHL this season, however, he didn't get proper recognition for it.
Craig Berube helped the Toronto Maple Leafs have one of their best seasons in years, as the team won the Atlantic Division.
Furthermore, they got to Game 7 against the Florida Panthers this season, which was their best second-round showing in years.
Heading into the offseason, some felt as though Berube's efforts were good enough for Coach of the Year considerations. However, he was ultimately snubbed pretty hard.
Craig Berube loses to Spencer Carbery
According to The Leafs Nation, Spencer Carbery won the Jack Adams Award for being the best coach in the league, as voted by the media.
Berube wasn't even top five in voting. Instead, he finished 10th, with just a couple of broadcasters and journalists voting for him. Overall, it was a bit disappointing to see.
However, Carbery was an assistant with the Leafs a while back, and he previously explained just how much he valued his time in Toronto.
«I always say this. I feel like I got a two-year masterclass in coaching in the NHL,» Carbery said. «Because, as an assistant, you're in a secondary role. You're in the background a little bit, you've got your responsibilities, you've got your means, but you have all this time to take in all this great information and learn from Jason Spezzas, Jake Muzzins, all these people, you get to pick their brain, Mark Giordano, too.
«I left Toronto feeling A) grateful, B) gaining all this knowledge, and C) really confident that, okay, now I feel really comfortable,» Carbery continued. «I believed I could be an NHL head coach below, but now I feel really comfortable and confident to get on that bench as a head coach.»

Carbery definitely deserved the award as the Washington Capitals were phenomenal in the regular season. The playoffs...not so much.
Next season, Craig Berube will be looking to improve his team's fortunes. He is a Stanley Cup-winning head coach, and he knows how to win.
Only time will tell whether or not he can get a franchise like the Leafs to the promised land.
