Craig Berube Reveals Why Relative Unkown Forward Got the Call from the Maple Leafs
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media today where he had some interesting comments about Toronto Marlies forward Jacob Quillan.
Surprisingly, the Toronto Maple Leafs called up Jacob Quillan today as Max Pacioretty and Connor Dewar remain injured.
Jacob Quillan has impressed Craig Berube
Many fans were surprised by this move given the fact that the Leafs have plenty of other young prospects, including Alex Steeves and Alex Nylander.
However, as Craig Berube explained to the media today, Quillan has been amazing and the organization wants to reward hard work.
"He is up here because he has played really well down there. He has been a very good player of late. If we need him, he is available for us. When guys do well, they get rewarded, they come up to the NHL."
It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that the Toronto Maple Leafs are not playing Quillan tonight.
He just had his first practice with the team and it would not make sense to throw him to the wolves in that manner.
However, it is cool to see a young player like him get an opportunity such as this one. He will definitely be given the chance to learn from the best.
Tonight, the Maple Leafs take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team that is ready for war.
In fact, the Leafs lost to the Blue Jackets earlier in the season, so the Leafs have a lot to prove even if they are far ahead in the standings.
